Buon Ferragosto! 🇮🇹 An appropriate day to post a detail from the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on the main bronze door of the Duomo di Milano. The level of detail and skill of these relief sculptures never ceases to amaze me.
How lovely is this pale pink wall?! One of my favorite parts of the Andy Warhol exhibition was seeing his early prints. So often when people think of Warhol they don't go beyond his later works in bold, bright colors that incorporated celebrities, popular brands, and political figures/events. In contrast, his early works consisted of more delicate lines and a softer color palette. ~Flowers (Hand-Colored), screenprints from 1974~
I can't believe that it was a little over a year ago that I visited Christo and Jeanne-Claude's Floating Piers on Lake Iseo with my dad and brother. We saw the man of the hour, Christo, float by on a boat (he was instantly recognizable by his orange shirt and shock of white hair). The whole thing was a surreal and memorable experience!
I ate at Alma three times in one week (😬) and finally tried the Sherry Cobbler after seeing a woman nearby order it. The perfect light, summery cocktail served in a huge glass with tons of crushed ice, mint, and blackberries - yum!
