While his work has attracted controversy at times (his projects are known to go over budget and he has often been accused of inefficiency), visually I am a big fan of Santiago Calatrava's work. Seeing Calatrava's Samuel Beckett Bridge in person led to a total architectural history geek out moment for me!
Traveling by train is my favorite method of transportation, and the trip from Zurich to Lugano was one of the most beautiful ones that I have ever experienced. Hopefully one day soon I can explore more of Switzerland.
Charles Moore's POMO masterpiece, the Piazza d'Italia - an architectural history lesson come to life. It was sad to see such a vibrant space unused and fenced off from the public. Hopefully one day soon it can be revitalized.
